United States of America mental illness crisis

Close to 100 million Americans have been diagnosed with a mental illness. That’s just less than a third of the population and that number can be much higher when you consider that these numbers only reflect the people that admitted that they had a problem. Most of these adults and youth are being locked up in prisons chained to tables and benches and fed medication with deadly side effects. Correctional officers with no training are assigned to monitor them. The  Los Angeles County jail processes hundreds of homeless mentally ill men and women daily. Mayor Eric Garcetti in collaboration with the civil court system is ordering and evicting eleven thousand people a month from their apartments and homes.
